The Pandemic was a challenging time for all of us. For many musicians and artist it was an opportunity to search and experiment on our own from the safety of our bedrooms. As an improviser I’m always looking to interact with technology and create new sound scapes and forms for solo performance. Especially during world wide pandemics! This collaboration with expert videographer Oscar Akamine served as a way to document sonically and visually my mid day musings during covid. Oscar has an attention to detail and ability to flow in the moment that produce fantastic results and always elevates the music! I hope this extract communicates something of the peace and joy playing the saxophone gives me. I decided to call this improvisation "Worf" after the cult character played by Michael Dorn in the classic series Star Trek: The Next Generation. There was something about the beat that reminded me of the soothing drone of the Enterprise and The Klingon within; we all have an inner warrior we can access through our art & creativity which gives us strength and hope in the middle of the uncertainty life throws at us.

This session consists one live improvisation for saxophone and live sequences midi sync via an Akai Mpc 1000 master clock to an ElectroHarmonix 9500 looper and Volcabeats, all sent to a mixer with stereo out to rec. Aux1 and aux2 provided wet signal from Stymon BigSky Reverb & Boss DD-6 digital delay respectively. No computers were applied in compositional process.
